A cozy crewneck is the one piece of clothing I reach for every single day once the weather cools down.
Making your own is easy with a Cricut. A plain sweatshirt and a little iron-on vinyl turns into something you’d pay $40 for in a boutique.

I rounded up 16 Cricut sweatshirt ideas with sleeve designs, front and back prints, varsity letters, pocket designs and seasonal favorites. Each one comes with the SVG file.

Tip: Want your initials on the sleeve or the left chest? Our free Monogram Maker turns any name into a monogram SVG you can cut in iron-on.
Where to Put Designs on a Sweatshirt
Placement makes a big difference to how store-bought your sweatshirt looks. These are the sizes I use on an adult crewneck:
- Front center: 9 to 11 inches wide, about 3 inches below the collar.
- Left chest or pocket: 3 to 4 inches wide.
- Sleeve: 1.5 to 2.5 inches wide and up to 11 inches long, running down the outside of the arm.
- Back: up to 12 inches wide, about 4 inches below the collar.
Fold the sweatshirt in half and press a light crease to find the center line before you place the vinyl.
Iron-On, Puff Vinyl or Sublimation?
Regular iron-on vinyl works on any cotton or poly-cotton sweatshirt and comes in every color. Puff vinyl rises when you press it, which gives varsity letters that raised, store-bought look.
Sublimation is great for full-color designs, but it only works on white or light polyester blends. For dark cotton crewnecks, stick with iron-on or printable iron-on.

Cricut Sweatshirt FAQs
What kind of vinyl do I use on a sweatshirt?
Use iron-on vinyl (HTV). Everyday iron-on is the easiest, and puff or glitter iron-on add texture. Always mirror the design before you cut.
What temperature should I press a sweatshirt at?
It depends on your vinyl and blank, so check the Cricut Heat Guide. Most cotton blend sweatshirts with everyday iron-on need around 315ยฐF for 30 seconds.
Why is my vinyl peeling after washing?
Usually it needed more heat, more pressure or more time. Press again from the back of the fabric, and wait 24 hours before the first wash.
How do I wash a Cricut sweatshirt?
Turn it inside out, wash on cold and tumble dry on low or hang it to dry. Skip fabric softener, which can loosen the vinyl.
