T-shirts were the first thing I ever made with my Cricut, and they’re still one of my favorite projects. A plain tee, a sheet of HTV and an hour later you’ve got a shirt nobody else has.
They also make the easiest personalized gifts.

I rounded up 16 Cricut shirt ideas for the whole family: matching mama and mini shirts, dad shirts, teacher tees, birthday shirts and a few funny ones for coffee lovers. Each one comes with an SVG file.

What You Need to Make Cricut Shirts
You don’t need much to get started:
- Blank t-shirts: cotton or a cotton blend for HTV, light polyester for sublimation. Prewash them without fabric softener.
- Heat transfer vinyl (HTV): everyday iron-on for most designs, glitter HTV for sparkle and printable HTV for full-color designs.
- A heat source: a Cricut EasyPress or a heat press works best. A household iron works for small designs.
- Weeding tools and a lint roller: to pull out the tiny pieces and keep the shirt clean before pressing.
How to Put HTV on a Shirt with a Cricut
Upload the SVG, size it (about 10 to 11 inches wide for an adult tee) and turn on Mirror before you cut. Place the HTV shiny side down on the mat.
Weed the design, preheat the shirt for a few seconds, then press using the temperature and time from the Cricut Heat Guide for your vinyl. Peel the carrier sheet warm or cold as the guide says, and wait 24 hours before washing.

Cricut Shirt FAQs
What size should a design be on a t-shirt?
For an adult tee, 10 to 11 inches wide is a good full-front size. Kids’ shirts usually look best at 6 to 8 inches, and a pocket design at 3 to 4 inches.
Do I need to mirror HTV designs?
Yes. Always turn on Mirror for heat transfer vinyl in Design Space, otherwise your design will come out backwards.
How do I keep HTV from peeling?
Press with firm pressure for the full time, and wait 24 hours before washing. Then wash inside out in cold water and skip the dryer or use low heat.
Can I sell shirts made with these SVG files?
Most Creative Fabrica files include a commercial license for physical products like shirts. Check the license on each file before you sell.
