Coasters are one of my go-to Cricut gifts. They’re small, quick to make and cheap, and a set of four looks really thoughtful wrapped up with a ribbon.
They’re also a great way to use up vinyl scraps.

I rounded up 14 Cricut coaster ideas: funny vinyl sayings for cork and tile coasters, sublimation designs for ceramic coasters, car coasters and a few holiday sets. Each one comes with the design file.

Best Coaster Blanks for Cricut
The blank you choose decides which method you use:
- Cork coasters: cheap and easy. Add permanent vinyl or HTV.
- Ceramic tile coasters: great with permanent vinyl, and sublimation-ready ones work with Infusible Ink or sublimation prints.
- Wood coasters: use vinyl, or cut a stencil and paint the design on.
- Sandstone car coasters: made for sublimation and soak up spills in the car cup holder.
- Felt or slate: felt pairs well with HTV, and slate looks lovely with white vinyl.
Vinyl coasters are best for gifts and decor. Wash them by hand, and add a coat of clear sealer if they’ll see a lot of wet glasses.
How to Make Sublimation Coasters
Print the design mirrored on sublimation paper with a sublimation printer, or use an Infusible Ink transfer sheet cut on your Cricut.
Tape it face down on a sublimation-ready coaster and press it with your EasyPress, following the time and temperature in the Cricut Heat Guide. Peel it off once it cools a little, and the colors are locked into the surface.

Cricut Coaster Ideas FAQs
What vinyl is best for coasters?
Use permanent vinyl on tile, wood or slate, and HTV on cork or felt. Removable vinyl won’t last on something that gets wet.
Are vinyl coasters waterproof?
Permanent vinyl handles a little condensation, but it can lift over time. Wash them by hand and add a clear sealer for extra protection.
Can I use Infusible Ink on coasters?
Yes, on sublimation-ready coasters like Cricut’s ceramic coaster blanks. It won’t work on regular tile, cork or wood.
What size should a coaster design be?
Most coasters are about 4 inches across, so size your design to around 3.5 inches to leave a small border.
Can I sell coasters made with these files?
Most Creative Fabrica files include a commercial license for physical products. Check the license on each file before you sell.
