15 Sweet Cricut Nursery Ideas for a Dreamy Baby Room

Published on

Decorating a nursery is one of the sweetest Cricut projects there is. Every piece you make is one of a kind, and a lot of them become keepsakes long after the baby years.

Most of these projects are made with cardstock, so they’re budget friendly too.

I rounded up 15 Cricut nursery ideas, from layered paper shadow boxes with sweet baby animals to a princess name sign, wall decals, paper flower balls and growth chart markers. Each one comes with an SVG file.

Tip: Choosing a font for the baby’s name? Type it into our free Cricut Font Previewer and compare dozens of fonts side by side before you cut.

Tips for Making Cricut Nursery Decor

A few things I keep in mind for every nursery project:

  • Match the colors: pick your cardstock after you choose the paint and bedding, so everything ties together.
  • Use 65 lb cardstock for layers: it cuts cleanly and stacks without getting too thick for the frame.
  • Add foam squares: small adhesive foam squares between the layers give shadow boxes real depth.
  • Choose removable vinyl for walls: it comes off painted walls cleanly when the room changes.
  • Keep it out of reach: hang paper decor on the walls or shelves, never over the crib, and use battery LED lights only.

How to Put Together a Paper Shadow Box

Cut each layer from a different cardstock color, then lay them out in order so you don’t mix them up.

Stack them from the back layer to the front with foam squares in between, lining up the edges as you go. Pop the stack into a deep shadow box frame, and add a battery light strip behind the layers if you want it to glow at night.

Is paper decor safe in a nursery?

Yes, as long as it’s out of the baby’s reach. Hang it on the walls or put it on high shelves, and never hang anything over the crib.

What vinyl should I use for nursery wall decals?

Use removable vinyl like Oracal 631. It sticks well to painted walls and peels off cleanly when you redecorate.

What paper should I use for a shadow box?

65 lb cardstock is easiest to cut and stack. Use foam squares between the layers to add depth.

How do I personalize nursery decor?

Add the baby’s name, initial or birth date in Design Space before you cut. A letter monogram or a name sign makes a lovely keepsake.
