Some of my favorite Cricut projects are the ones I make with kids. I do the cutting, and they do the folding, gluing and coloring.
It keeps little hands busy, and they love playing with something they helped make.

I rounded up 17 Cricut ideas for kids, from 3D paper dinosaurs and puppets to paper toys, party crowns, stickers and decor for their rooms. Each one comes with an SVG file.
Tip: Making a name sign or a personalized frame for a kid’s room? Design the letters in our free Monogram Maker, then upload the SVG to Design Space.
How to Make Cricut Crafts with Kids
A few simple habits make crafting with kids much more fun:
- You cut, they build: keep the blades and the machine for grown-ups, and let kids do the folding, gluing and decorating.
- Use bright cardstock: 65 lb for flat crafts and 80 lb for 3D toys that need to stand up.
- Pick washable glue: a glue stick or tacky glue is easier for small hands than hot glue.
- Score the folds: use the scoring stylus or wheel so the 3D pieces fold neatly.
- Keep it short: choose projects with fewer pieces for younger kids, and save the big papercrafts for older ones.
What Age Is Right for Cricut Crafts?
Toddlers love coloring and sticking pieces you’ve already cut. Kids from about 5 can fold and glue simple 3D shapes with a little help.
By 8 or 9, many kids can weed simple vinyl and help pick designs in Design Space. Always keep an eye on them around the machine and tools.

Older kids can use a Cricut with an adult nearby. The blades are tucked inside the machine, but the weeding tools and blades are sharp, so supervise closely.

Paper crowns, stickers and simple paper toys are the easiest. They need few pieces and no heat or vinyl.
