Blank walls are my favorite excuse to get the Cricut out. A store-bought print can cost a lot, but a sheet of cardstock or a bit of vinyl costs very little.
And when someone asks where you got it, you get to say you made it.

I rounded up 15 Cricut wall art ideas: layered paper scenes and mandalas to frame, a big three-panel piece, an accent wall stencil, a wildflower decal and a few framed vinyl quotes. Each one comes with the cut file.

Best Materials for Cricut Wall Art
The material decides how long the piece lasts and whether you can take it down later:
- Cardstock: 65 to 80 lb for layered paper art. Pick a set of colors that blend from light to dark.
- Removable vinyl: the one to use straight on a wall. It peels off without taking the paint with it.
- Permanent vinyl: for quotes on wood boards, glass frames and canvas.
- Stencil vinyl or reusable stencil film: for painting a pattern on a wall, furniture or a wood sign.
- Shadow box frames: a deep frame protects layered paper and makes the layers stand out.
Wait at least two weeks after painting a wall before you put vinyl on it, or the decal won’t stick well.
How to Make Layered Paper Wall Art
Cut each layer in its own color, then line them up from the back layer to the front. Put small foam dots between the layers. They lift each layer a little and give you those soft shadows.
Work on a flat table and let the glue dry before you put it in the frame. A shadow box frame with about an inch of depth fits most layered files.

It always gets a laugh from guests. Use permanent vinyl, because bathrooms get steamy.
Cricut Wall Art FAQs
What vinyl should I use on a wall?
Use removable vinyl, like Cricut Removable Vinyl or Oracal 631. It holds well but peels off without pulling the paint. Permanent vinyl can damage the wall when you take it down.
What paper is best for layered wall art?
65 to 80 lb cardstock. It’s thin enough for fine details but stiff enough to stay flat in a frame. Use the same weight for every layer so the cuts line up.
How big can I make Cricut wall art?
Most Cricut machines cut up to 12 x 24 inches on a long mat. For bigger pieces, split the design into panels, like the maple branch, or cut a vinyl decal in sections.
Can I sell wall art made with these files?
Most Creative Fabrica files include a commercial license for physical products. Check the license on each file before you sell.
