A onesie is the cutest little canvas for your Cricut. It only takes a small scrap of iron-on vinyl, and it’s done in about fifteen minutes.
It’s also one of the most loved baby shower gifts I know.

I rounded up 13 Cricut onesie ideas: funny sayings, cute animals, a coming home outfit and onesies for baby’s first holidays. Each one comes with the cut file.
Tip: Want to add baby’s initials? Make a monogram in our free Monogram Maker, download the SVG and cut it in iron-on vinyl.
Best Onesies and Vinyl for Cricut
Here’s what works best for baby clothes:
- Cotton onesies: pick 100% cotton or a cotton blend. Wash them once first, without fabric softener.
- Everyday iron-on vinyl: Cricut Everyday Iron-On or Siser EasyWeed. It’s thin, soft and stretches with the fabric.
- Infusible Ink: it only works on polyester, so use the Infusible Ink-compatible baby bodysuits.
- Skip glitter and rhinestones: glitter vinyl can feel scratchy, and small pieces can come loose. Keep onesies simple and soft.
Keep the design at about 3 to 3.5 inches wide for newborn sizes, and up to 4 inches for 6 to 12 months.
How to Put Iron-On Vinyl on a Onesie
Mirror the design, cut it with the shiny side down, and weed it. Slide a piece of cardboard or an EasyPress mat inside the onesie, so the heat stays on the front.
Press with the time and temperature from the Cricut Heat Guide, then peel the carrier sheet warm or cool, as the vinyl says. Wait 24 hours before the first wash, and wash it inside out.
